A Florida father who received a phone call from his son, who was crying, showed up at his son’s school with a loaded AK-47, police said.

Christopher Freeman, 27, told police officers that he received a FaceTime call from his son, a student at Bear Lakes Middle School in Palm Beach County, at 3 p.m. on March 11. His son was crying and told him a teacher had slammed him.

The call ended when an adult grabbed the child and the cellphone fell, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Freeman was called by an assistant principal before he showed up regarding the incident and Freeman allegedly told him, “If this isn’t my son, you’re all dead,” according to an arrest report obtained by WPTV.

Freeman was found by a school resource officer in front of the school’s main office with a gun sticking out of the front of his pants; Freeman told the officer, “I want to see the guy who slammed my son. I’ve got something for him.”

The school was placed under lockdown and officers found a loaded AK-47 pistol on the suspect.

Freeman said he was upset but told officers he didn’t realize he was carrying the weapon because he typically carries it on him for protection, reported the Sun-Sentinel. He said he obtained the gun from a friend a year ago and didn’t know weapons weren’t allowed on school property. He claimed he didn’t intend to actually harm anyone, despite his alleged threats.

Freeman was in a wheelchair. He initially resisted being searched, yelling: “You ain’t touching me.”

Freeman was charged with possession of a firearm on school ground, disruption of a school function, and aggravated assault. His bond was set at $75,000 on Tuesday and if he meets bond he will be on house arrest and forbidden to possess any weapons.

Man kills brother-in-law

Indiana Man Allegedly Killed by Brother-in-Law

An Indiana man killed by his brother-in-law was shot in front of his four children, police said.

Dustin Payne, 33, who died on March 10, was also set to be married soon, his fiancée said.

Payne’s fiancée Jessica Fowler said that she and Payne went to the parking lot of JayC Food Store in Seymour on Sunday night to pick up Payne’s four children, a routine custody exchange with Payne’s ex-wife.

But after the kids got into Payne’s truck, his sister and brother-in-law arrived, the latter carrying a gun.

Fowler told WLKY that Payne and the brother-in-law, William Baker, 61, didn’t have a good relationship, and it had recently gotten worse after Payne’s son informed his father that Baker had yelled at him.

“Will’s exact words were ‘F your dad. When I see that SOB I’m gonna shoot him,’” Fowler said.

After the men exchanged words in the parking lot, one shot was fired by Baker, hitting Payne in the chest. Baker was still there when police officers arrived.

Seymour police agree with Fowler that the murder was premeditated. “I think he knew he was going to be there,” Seymour Police Chief Bill Abbott said.

Along with the children, multiple shoppers witnessed the killing, reported WHAS 11.

Police officials were asking anyone who saw what happened, including anyone who recorded video of the confrontation, to contact them. Contact the Seymour Police Department at (812) 522-1234.
