The organizers of the upcoming “Minds” event on political violence at the New Jersey Pitman Theater claims it’s receiving constant threats by Antifa activists who want to prevent it from happening.
Not only have Antifa sworn to thwart the event, they have also allegedly taken control of the venue’s Twitter account and have said control of the Twitter account will not be released until the event is canceled.
The event is entitled “Ending Racism, Violence, and Authoritarianism,” and, according to the organization’s website, “The purpose of this event is to bring together a diverse group of people with differing viewpoints – people who often have combative and unproductive discussions online, behind their screens – and have them discuss their opinions and beliefs face-to-face, where each person can see the humanity of those whose viewpoints he or she disagrees with.”
The line-up features different speakers from all across the political spectrum: Journalist Andy Ngo, who was attacked by Antifa sympathists on June 29, British YouTuber and recent political candidate Carl Benjamin, independent journalist Tim Pool, BlazeTV host Lauren Chen, Canadian feminist Meghan Murphy, and many others.
“Despite ongoing aggressive threats and alleged criminal actions taken against the Pitman Theater and our event, the Minds IRL ‘Ending Racism, Violence and Authoritarianism’ will be taking place as scheduled on August 31, 2019″ said a spokeswoman to Breitbart.
One sympathizer with Antifa, named The Red Stripe, wrote to Twitter: “Maybe they’re fighting it by locking them in and lighting a fire,” which many people interpreted as a direct threat by Antifa to burn down the house unless the event will be canceled.
So, just days after the Portland riots, the stage is set for a gripping event at the Broadway Theater of Pitman.
Portland Mayor Says Protests Were ‘Largely Peaceful’ as Videos Show Antifa Assaulting People
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler claimed that the events on Aug. 17 were “largely peaceful” as video footage showed Antifa and their opponents brawling.
In some cases, the far-left extremist group was reported to have committed unprovoked assaults on people who did not fight back.
“I’m grateful that this was largely a peaceful event,” Wheeler said at a press conference Saturday night as groups of black-clad Antifa members still roamed the city with their faces concealed.
Portland Police Chief Danielle Outlaw, who has called for an anti-mask law to help police combat masked extremists, said it was “a peaceful event in our beautiful city.”
No reporters asked officials about Antifa despite the group appearing to commit most of the violence on Saturday and officials did not mention any group by name, though Wheeler railed against Joe Biggs, a Proud Boys member who was said to have organized the event.
The Proud Boys started downtown but did not appear to commit any violence and soon left the area across a bridge as the larger Antifa group milled around, shouting at journalists and yelling at police officers. Antifa later crossed a bridge and began inciting chaos on the other side.
The Portland Police Bureau said in a press release that 13 people in total were arrested—two juveniles were referred to the appropriate agency, nine individuals were criminally cited then released, and two were booked into jail.
