New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts has been facing escalating threats of violence in the United States, possibly by agents of the Chinese Communist Party. Betsy Smith, spokesperson of the National Police Association, says attacks on Shen Yun and Falun Gong should be considered hate crimes and religious persecution, and that law enforcement need to protect the performers.
