The legendary Grammy Award-winning singer Florence LaRue from The 5th Dimension saw Shen Yun in Los Angeles on May 1.

As an artist herself, she was deeply impressed by the artistic level and said the charm of the artists was extraordinary.

“It was fabulous. I have been waiting to see the show, and I could never get to see it because I was touring with The 5th Dimension. We just returned last night from a tour in the east coast of the United States … I finally got to see it. It was just awesome,” said Florence.

“I studied ballet, I know the difficulty of what they were doing, and I think that’s probably one of the reasons why I was so impressed. As an entertainer, I knew that they weren’t doing anything ordinary,” she added. “They were absolutely wonderful. The coordination, the choreography, the staging, and I like the way the live performance was integrated with the screen. The orchestration, I can’t say enough. Words can’t express it.”

Shen Yun draws inspiration from China’s 5,000 years of civilization and portrays its values through dance and music.

Florence encourages everyone to see the charm.

“I think they did a great job in showing the culture, it was really good. It was educational, it was entertaining, it was inspiring, it was all of that,” she said. “Extraordinary, I just can’t think of words to explain it. It was great, everyone should come and see it. Even if you don’t understand Chinese culture, or don’t want to, it’s entertaining, it’s beautiful.”

“And the work that’s put into it … The professionalism is wonderful. That should inspire people no matter what job you do, it should inspire you to do your best. These people are the best at what they do.”
