Britney Spears’ manager, Larry Rudolph, has said that she may never perform again.

Rudolph told TMZ that her health wasn’t up to par.

“As the person who guides her career—based on the information I and all of the professionals who work with her are being told on a need-to-know basis—from what I have gathered it’s clear to me she should not be going back to do this Vegas residency, not in the near future and possibly never again,” Rudolph said.

Rudolph has never been one of the people that was involved in Spears’ physical or mental health issues, he only receives medical information when it affects Spears’ career, according to TMZ.

He added that Spears had a very rough year in 2019 when her father fell ill during rehearsals.

Spears previously said in an Instagram post: “However, it’s important to always put your family first … and that’s the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him.”

Then things took a turn for the worse.

“It was the perfect storm,” Rudolph said. “We had to pull her show because her meds stopped working and she was distraught over her dad’s illness.”

Spears expressed gratitude after her fans showed support for her health and wellbeing.

“I appreciate your prayers and support for my family during this time. Thank you, and love you all … always,” Spears wrote on Instagram.

Rudolph said Spears has always made her own decisions on whether she would continue to perform and would always keep him up to date.

“Last summer, when she wanted to tour, she called me every day,” he said. “She was excited. She hasn’t called me in months. Crickets. She clearly doesn’t want to perform now.”

In regards to the future, he has left that up to Spears.

“I don’t want her to work again ’till she’s ready, physically, mentally and passionately,” he said. “If that time never comes again it will never come again. I have no desire or ability to make her work again. I am only here for her when she wants to work. And, if she ever does want to work again, I’m here to tell her if it’s a good idea or a bad idea.”

She took to Instagram and posted a photo of her and her parents on Jan. 5 and announced the cancellation of her show.

She wrote:

“I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time. I hope you all can understand. More information on ticket refunds is available on britneyspears.com. I appreciate your prayers and support for my family during this time. Thank you, and love you all… always.”

Later on April 24, Spears posted a short video on Instagram to clarify the situation involving Sam Lutfi—a former friend and confidante—who was allegedly harassing her family and adding to Spears’ mental distress.

“I wanted to say hi, because things that are being said have just gotten out of control!!! Wow!!!,” she said.

“There’s rumors, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things crazy things being said. I am trying to take a moment for myself, but everything that’s happening is just making it harder for me.”

“Don’t believe everything you read and hear. These fake emails everywhere were crafted by Sam Lutfi years ago… I did not write them.”

“He was pretending to be me and communicating with my team with a fake email address.”

“My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want! Your love and dedication is amazing, but what I need right now is a little bit of privacy to deal with all the hard things that life is throwing my way. If you could do that, I would be forever grateful. Love you.”
