Shen Yun Performing arts has successfully finished its 2019 tour with the last stop in Memphis, Tennessee, on May 13.

For Jack Belz, it’s not his first time seeing the performance, but he said each time it surprises him.

“It was just wonderful. This is the fourth time we’ve seen Shen Yun. Every time it’s more beautiful,” Belz said. “The talent is remarkable, the colors, the costuming, the cinematography is remarkable. It’s just beyond belief.”

Belz is the Chairman and CEO of Belz Enterprises. The Belz Family Group is known as one of the largest real estate development firms in the South.

He also received many awards including the 2003 Master Entrepreneur Award, the 2005 Lifetime Achievement Award, and more.

And as the owner of the Belz Museum of Asian and Judaic art, he appreciates Shen Yun’s efforts to revive its culture and values.

“Because I’ve been [a] collector of Chinese art for many many years. Actually 60 years, and so everything I’ve seen brings back the Chinese culture, which I believe very much is a wonderful culture that should be kept alive and nurtured,” he said. “I understand, I just heard that this is not allowed to be shown in communist China. That’s a shame, it’s a loss for the people of China, but I’m glad the rest of us are able to see this beauty.”

Traditional values should be treasured in China, not just the modern,” he added. “There’s nothing wrong with the modern, but the traditional is the belief, the beginning of this culture, which is over 5,000 years and it’s something that should be nurtured and restored and let it get grander and grander.”

Belz said he was lucky to see it again, and hopes that everyone won’t miss the chance next time.

“I would like to tell my friends about the performance, but what I was told, this is the last performance of this year, and of course the ones that didn’t get to see it were the losers,” Belz said. “I wish I could’ve told them in advance but there were only 2 performances here, this time in Memphis, and so only a few of us got to see it, but it‘s wonderful.”
