After reports of plunging electric vehicle (EV) sales recently from Ford and Tesla, White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said at a Thursday press briefing that the Biden administration has no plans to change its EV policy. The policy includes a mandate dictating that vehicles with internal combustion engines will be phased out, and requiring 67 percent of new light-duty vehicles and 46 percent of medium-duty vehicles to be electric by 2032.

Ms. Jean-Pierre defended the administration with numbers of her own, claiming EV sales had “quadrupled” under President Joe Biden, and that the average cost of EVs has come down over the past year.
