Singer Donny Osmond has undergone surgery on Jan.4 to repair a shoulder injury, possibly due to dancing, and is recovering at home.

The previous Dancing With the Starts winner had posted on Instagram the day before surgery, and been quite humorous about the whole ordeal—even cracking a joke about it afterwards.

In the Instagram video, he was seen wearing a hospital gown with a hospital hair net. According to the video, he maintained his cheery attitude and talked about the procedure with the nurse’s instruction to him.

“I’m here in the hospital. I’m just about to have shoulder surgery. The nurse told me to mark my right shoulder with the word ‘yes’ so they get the right one. Instead of that I wrote this,” Osmond said in an Instagram video.

He pulled down and revealed the shoulder area he was instructed to mark, and instead of the ‘yes’ he was asked to write, he drew a circle with a dot inside, and wrote underneath the words, “cut here.”

In the video captions he wrote, “we should all be glad I’m the patient, not the surgeon” and included a bunch of emojis to ease the mood. He added new year, new shoulder in the hashtags.

Fans have commented on how funny he was regarding the whole surgery as most were sending him ‘get better soon’ messages in the comments, following his Instagram video.

After the successful surgery for his shoulder, he followed up with another photo on Instagram, showing him post-procedure and at home, recovering from the surgery. In the captions, he appeared to suggest his injury was due to dancing but did not specify explicitly beyond that. Despite doctor orders, he maintained a light and cheerful mood.

In the picture, he can be seen sitting on a couch with a brace around his arm and shoulder, with his arm covered in what appears to be an ice pack, according to Taste of Country.

“Turns out dancing accidents aren’t so convenient after all,” he wrote, “I’m home after a successful shoulder surgery and settling in for some serious [rest and recovery].”

He even cracked a joke—“My only complaint about the day: my doctor gave me the cold shoulder.”

The injury occurred while he was on break from his show at the Flamingo, Las Vegas with his sister, Marie Osmond. The two are scheduled to resume the show come Feb. 5.

Despite his in-explicitness to state a cause of injury and extent to which he was injured, many fans speculate the injury occurred during performance and choreography movements, according to Country Music Family.

Donny, who had taken home the Mirror Ball Trophy on season nine of Dancing With The Stars, is known to have all sorts of dancing styles under his belt—hence the vigorous type of choreography planned for his shows and performances.

Despite that, he somehow still manages to make a joke or two. His son, Chris, seems to also share that humor, as he commented on his father’s post-procedural photo on Instagram.

Chris said the injury must have been due to all those years Donny spent arm-wrestling him and losing had taken its toll on Donny’s body.

“Sorry Dad, I think it’s all those years of arm wrestling me and you losing every time. I should’ve gone easy on you,” Chris said on Instagram. Donny took the joke in good humor and good spirit, replying with “I let you win.”

Donny seems to have taken a positive outlook on various different events and situations, as seen on various social networking platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. The incident was highly publicized on all three social media platforms, attracting supportive comments from fans who wished him a well and speedy recovery.

Donny’s injury occurred about a week after his youngest brother, Jimmy, suffered a stroke two days after Christmas while playing Captain Hook in a stage production of Peter Pan at Birmingham, England.

Both Donny and his sister, Marie, used Instagram to ask fans to send prayers for their little brother.

Danny first gained fame as a teen singing music hits in the 1970s, including “Sweet and Innocent,” “Go Away Little Girl,” and “Puppy Love.” He and his sister starred in The Donny & Marie Show on TV, which aired on ABC from 1976 to 1979.

They have constantly worked together since on various different platforms.
