Classical Chinese dance and music company Shen Yun Performing Arts arrived in Aix-en-Provence, where the show has been sold out for several months already. After watching Shen Yun on April 6, the audience said that the movements on stage created a unique experience and a palpable energy.

“For the male dances in fact, …of course, their spirit is very masculine but there is a gentle firmness and it is that that I find very interesting and very very beautiful and very very aesthetic,” said Laura Trotman, a mezzo-soprano singer. “The traditional values, the traditional values and the duality between male and female is very present and is quite pleasant. One feels something other than just the show and the scenery, one has the impression of going well beyond, of course.”

“That is to say that one feels much stronger in this lightness, the requirement of perfection, the accuracy, the accuracy of the thoughts, in the movements, in the momentum and the focus on the other,” said Jocelyne Goubert Duchein, a therapist. “I congratulate the dance company for this show where the discipline is transcended, that reminds us in our day to day lives the necessity of being sublime in the details, in our daily lives, all the momentum, this dynamism must really be seen as an impetus, as a breath of life, it was really enchanting for the eyes, for the spirit and really thank you for this show.”

According to its website, one of the unique aspects of Shen Yun is its depiction of traditional Chinese culture, with principles such as benevolence and justice, respect for the heavens, and propriety and wisdom presented through the dances. The audience said they enjoyed learning about the spiritual elements of traditional Chinese culture through the performance.

“I really appreciate this show from every point of view because it is varied in every way, the chromatisms, the colors in accordance with the music, I have the impression that it is good for the soul, good for the mind, and then for the heart, and then everything is magical, it regenerates, it is good in every way. I am absolutely delighted with this show, as a musician in addition, I appreciate twice, triply the Shen Yun show,” said Daniel Jublin, Composer, a conductor and teacher of music training and choral singing. “It’s an osmosis, a total osmosis, there’s really a complicity, there’s a great delicacy, power and then a lot of joy, I really appreciate it. Today it is the break of peace that is happening right now, I think that this is really very, very important in the time we live in.”
