Actor Jeremy Renner has returned to work on the crime drama TV series “Mayor of Kingstown” a year after being involved in a snowplow accident near his Nevada home on Jan. 1, 2023.
Mr. Renner admitted in a selfie he posted on social media on Jan. 10 that he was “nervous” to be back on set to film season 3 of the popular Paramount Plus show.
“Day one on set … nervous today,” the 53-year-old “Hawkeye” star said on Instagram. “Hope this works out that I can ACTUALLY pull this off for our production and more importantly the fans,” he added.
Meanwhile, Paramount Plus confirmed in a statement on Jan. 10 that production had begun on the upcoming season of the series, which follows “the McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry,” according to the statement.
In addition to Mr. Renner, the series also stars Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Nishi Munshi, and Hamish Allan-Headley.
“Back in action. #MayorOfKingstown season 3 has started production!” Mr. Renner wrote in a separate Instagram post on Jan. 10.
A release date for season 3 of “Mayor of Kingstown” has not yet been announced. The series’ second season premiered on Jan. 15, 2023, and can be streamed on Paramount Plus.

What Happened to Renner?
Last year, Mr. Renner suffered traumatic injuries on New Year’s Day while helping a family member remove a stuck Pistenbully—a large snowplow that weighs more than 14,000 pounds—from more than three feet of snow that had fallen the night before at his home in Reno, Nevada.
After freeing the vehicle, Mr. Renner got out of the snowplow, which then rolled toward him and crushed him.
“In an effort to stop the rolling Pistenbully, Mr. Renner attempts to get back into the driver seat of the PistenBully,” Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said during a press conference two days after the Jan. 1, 2023, incident. “Based on our investigation, it’s at this point that Mr. Renner is run over by the PistenBully,” he added.
He was airlifted to a hospital in Reno, where the Marvel actor underwent many surgeries and was placed in the ICU to treat blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries, including more than 30 broken bones.
Recently, Mr. Renner said in a post on social media that his 10-year-old daughter, Ava Renner, was the main motivation for his recovery.
“Reason number One for my recovery is her,” he wrote with a picture of him and his daughter. “I asked her to ‘wait for me’ when I first saw her January 14 as I arrived home. As I got better, she got better, less afraid. There is simply no better motivator to recover than to heal your family and friends.”
