I hope everyone had a great New Year!

It is Travolta’s first Instagram post of the new year, so it could be from a New Year’s Eve party. It is not clear if Travolta’s new look comes out of necessity in the face of falling hair follicles, or if it is a look he needs for a movie.

The post already had over 140,000 likes and 4,000 comments as of Jan. 9. Many of the commenters are complimenting Travolta on the hairstyle. Last year Travolta was in theaters via two movies, “Gotti” and “Speed Kills.”

Travolta acted in “The Poison Rose,” due out in November 2019, according to IMDB. Two other Travolta movies with no date of release listed on IMDB include “Trading Paint” and “Moose.”

No Travolta movies currently in the production phase are listed in his IMDB profile, although the three latest movies are in the post-production phase.

This isn’t the first time Travolta has sported a bald head. He had one in the 2010 film “From Paris With Love.” He also showed off his natural hair, or what is left of it, in a selfie taken with him by a fan at a gym in 2016, and during a 2011 family vacation, Daily Mail reported.

During a Christmas Day Instagram video post with his family by his side, Travolta’s look suggested he could have had a bald head under his white baseball cap.

Travolta celebrated the 40th anniversary of “Grease” last year. It was one of his early productions responsible for his rise to fame. Also last year, Brooklyn, New York, named June 12 John Travolta Day. Festivities took place at a location made famous through Travolta’s “Saturday Night Fever,” Lenny’s Pizza, in the Bensonhurst neighborhood, NPR reported.

“Travolta changed the culture of Brooklyn and America forever in both fashion and music. The movie Saturday Night Fever brought millions of Americans to the dance floor to the rhythm of disco,” New York State Sen. Marty Golden said in a press release for John Travolta Day, according to NPR.

Back in his “Grease,” “Saturday Night Fever,” and “Welcome Back, Cotter” days, Travolta’s hair was iconic. In 1994’s “Pulp Fiction” he wore even longer hair.

Travolta’s 18-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, accompanies him in the bald-headed photo. She is also an actress. She will appear with her father in “The Poison Rose,” according to IMDB. In 2009, she also appeared in a movie with her father, Disney’s “Old Dogs.”

Travolta and wife Kelly Preston bought Ella and 7-year-old son Benjamin onto the red carpet during the Cannes Film Festival, on May 14, 2018, Entertainment Tonight reported. Travolta first started posting to Instagram during the festival. On Instagram, he said it was because his daughter finally convinced him and his wife to join the social network.

Travolta’s older son, Jett, died in 2009 while the family was on vacation. He hit his head on a bathtub during a seizure. He had a history of seizures, People reported.
