Former officials are concerned about the delay of the report on foreign interference in the election. They say it’s damaging to our democracy.
Last week, the intelligence community (IC) told Director John Ratcliffe they couldn’t issue a foreign interference report on time.
Former government official Bart Marcois told The Epoch Times, “I’ve never known the IC to say to a president—or even to a deputy assistant secretary—that we don’t have sufficient information to answer your question. … They would say we don’t have complete information, but here is our report based on the information that we have at this time.”
His conclusion is they’re delaying it for political reasons so it can’t be used to overturn election results in disputed states.
Trump’s 2018 order says any “appropriate official” can submit the information at any time. The order imposes sanctions on any nation or person involved in election interference.
Last month, a cybersecurity agency said this election was the “most secure in American history.” And that there was no evidence of problems with voting systems.
