The sequel of the 2015 film “Creed,” starring Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan, is coming to theaters for the Thanksgiving holiday.
A new trailer for the Rocky series reboot was released on Sept. 26.
In the movie, lightweight champion Adonis Creed, played by Jordan, is taking on the challenge of his life: to fight with Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago.
Ivan Drago is a former Russian fighter who killed Adonis’s father, Apollo Creed, in the ring in 1995’s “Rocky IV.” This history intensifies the coming battle.
Famous boxing champion Rocky Balboa, played by Sylvester Stallone, is again by Adonis’s side offering suggestions and training to the son of his late friend and former rival Apollo.
“Don’t do this. … He broke things in me that ain’t never been fixed,” Balboa warns Adonis. “It ain’t worth it.”
The sequel also focuses on Adonis’s intense preparation and a life-changing moment when Adonis welcomes his newborn baby.
“Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history,” stated a press release.
Fans are looking forward to the film, especially after Jordan received more attention for his role in “Black Panther.”
Directed by Steven Caple Jr., “Creed II” is scheduled to be released on Nov. 21, 2018.
