Police and soldiers reportedly stormed the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea on Tuesday, Nov. 20, smashing windows, artwork and other property in the building.
The Australian reported that the officers attacked parliament to protest unpaid allowances from the APEC conference over the weekend.
Shadow Minister for Public Service, Public Enterprises and State Investments Bryan Kramer posted this footage to Facebook, depicting the damage inside the building.
He also posted a video of himself talking about how APEC allowances overdue led to the attack.
“Following that dissatisfaction they convoyed and stormed to parliament house while members of the opposition were in our shadow minister meeting and started to destroy property throughout parliament,” Kramer said.
“The situation here is quite tense,” Kramer said. “Numerous staff of parliament were assaulted during this confrontation.”

Kramer said those who had stormed parliament were now outside the building waiting to be addressed by the government as to why they had not received their allowances.
