President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden welcomed Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife to the White House on Tuesday evening. The more formal activities kicked off on Wednesday morning, however, with an official arrival ceremony on the South Lawn of the White House.
The leaders headed to the Oval Office for bilateral meetings. A joint news conference is set to follow on Wednesday afternoon. Officials say the summit will be a historic upgrade in defense ties with Japan in the face of growing pressure from the Chinese communist regime.
Talks are expected to include plans to upgrade the U.S. military command structure in Japan. The U.S. ambassador to Japan says it will allow for better coordination and increased deterrence in the Pacific. NTD spoke to retired Col.
