Audience Member Takes Away Message of ‘Kindness and Goodness’ After Watching Shen Yun

January 30, 2024

Shen Yun performed for two days at the State Theatre at Playhouse Square in Cleveland, Ohio, on Jan 27 and 28. Theatergoers got a chance to see 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture and expressed their appreciation for it.

Martin Carlton, a movie actor and director, said he got emotional seeing Shen Yun perform.

“When the show started and the curtains opened up and the smoke came over the stage, I [was] watching the orchestra, I started to tear up. It was so amazing.”

“Wonderful, the colors are great, the performers are amazing, it’s mesmerizing. There’s so much to look at and see. They just do such a wonderful job and you can feel the emotion and the learning more of the culture,” said Bethany Lapp, VP of estimating at Kelley Steel Erectors, Inc.

“The performance is exquisite for many, many different reasons. Everything was superb, excellent. The dancing, the music, the solos, the history of the different tales that were expressed through the dancing and music,” said Donna Ray, the CEO of Brightside, Inc.

Ancient Chinese culture finds its roots in the divine, and audience members pointed to a deeper message behind the performance.

“What was most important to me is the message of what’s happening in our world, and that there is a way and the way is faith, love. It’s the grace of God,” said Ms. Ray.

“The message is a lot about kindness and goodness and being good to each other. The divine, coming from divine, going back to divine. Spending your time here on Earth being kind and good,” said John Kenny, director of corporate logistics at Day Glo Color Corp.

Each season, Shen Yun artists produce an all-new show and perform across the world, leaving audiences with an unforgettable experience.

“It’s like a very magical show. And all that art is pulled together to just take you away from the world for a while,” said Mr. Carlton.

“Spend extra money, get good seats, absolutely must attend. Come multiple times, it’s absolutely worth it,” said Blaine McKelvey, director of marketing at Payne & Tompkins.

“Come out and see it, you’ll enjoy it. It’ll have something for you. You should be inspired by it, right? You might find yourself a little bit changed. You’ll learn something about Chinese culture, which is always nice to learn about other cultures. It will be a good experience,” said Mr. Kenny.

“I hope that one day that there will be a reawakening of the roots of China and its magnificence. And that people will be able to share that and see that eventually,” said Gary J. Drlik, a mechanical engineer at NASA.

“They need to come to see this. It’s truly a unique experience,” said Patrick DiOrio, the director of administration at North Canton Ohio.

Shen Yun Performing Arts will be performing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Fresno, California on Feb. 3 and 4.
