Shen Yun finished five performances in Phoenix, Arizona, from Feb. 13 to 16. Audiences said they appreciated the beauty of the performance.
“It was emotional, just the way they danced and their faces. Really engaged you as an audience. It was a real emotional experience for me,” said Kim Reynolds, a theatrical designer.
“The dancers’ techniques are flawless. Gorgeous, graceful, amazing,” said Brenda van Gelder, a market director and consultant for NOW CFO.
Cory Yardley, a graphic designer and owner of WildChild Graphics, was amazed by Shen Yun’s 3D backdrop.
“Amazing, I actually haven’t seen video incorporated with a live performance like that before so I really thought that was interesting. Especially being a graphic designer, seeing the way they were incorporated. I thought that was great.”
“Overwhelmingly amazing. It’s just… so touching and the colors are so vibrant and their dances just spoke to your soul,” said Whitney Wiltbank, the CEO of Sprucedale Guest Ranch.
Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture and values from before communism. Theatergoers took note of a deeper message and praised Shen Yun’s effort.
“It’s a powerful message that talks about how important it is to preserve these cultures in spite of what might be happening in China at this moment in time,” said Andrew Chapman, a professor at Phoenix College.
“The world is changing not for the good, and this is time to wake up,” said Marie Rolf, a professor at Roseman University of Health Sciences.
Audience members said the performance touched their hearts and gave hope and inspiration to others.
“It’s inspiring, it gives a lot of hope and something to reach for,” said Jud Beierman, an agricultural inspector for the Arizona Department of Agriculture.
“I think very needed today. I think everybody needs to hear that message of hope and future aspirations,” said Ms. Reynolds.
Toni Allen, a COO at Smile Dental Clinics, felt deeply touched after seeing Shen Yun.
“Now I might get emotional but… just keep it up, just keep doing what you’re doing. Just keep educating the rest of the population on what we don’t know about.”
Shen Yun will be performing next at the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center in Midland, Texas, on Feb. 20.
