Shen Yun moved audiences in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to tears over the weekend. The performance brings China’s 5,000 years of traditional culture alive on stage.

“I love the emotion, it was very emotional. I actually cried at the beginning. I really liked the whole—the emotion that it conveyed, in the music,” said Tatiana Conejo, a musician.

“It brings me so much excitement to see the dance and the ancient culture. It met all my expectations,” said José García, who is the owner of Garcia Trucking Service, Inc.

“Wonderful, a great experience indeed. A wonderful show, perfect choreography. The music was sublime, the harmony, the dancers,” said Jorge Rivera Nieves, who was a news anchor at Telemundo Puerto Rico.

“They’re divine, they’re charming, they have incredible talent. When we see their dance, our hearts are touched. It makes us feel good,” said Ana Nieves, who is a professor at University de Puerto Rico.

For thousands of years, classical Chinese dance was used to express traditional values, which emphasize spiritual self-discipline and respect for the divine. Theatergoers said they felt that message from Shen Yun’s performance.

“We are talking about China before communism, 5,000 years. The experience was truly unique. Their energy is based on the foundations that make up humanity, which are goodness, hope, charity, faith,” said Osana Chacon, who is a doctor.

Edwin Delgado, a professor at Universidad Interamericana, felt there was a message of hope.

“The show was sending a message that there is still hope. And that we can go together to a better world in the future. Especially about harmony. It was very good, a good message. The show is delivering a good message around the world,” he said.

Others pointed out they were impressed by Shen Yun’s artistry—and valued the chance to experience China before communism.

“Absolutely beautiful. It touches the deepest fiber of human sensitivity and transports us to a different world. This show is out of this world. I feel very honored to be able to come see this show and to be able to enjoy it with my family. I recommend it to anyone who wants to have an experience beyond everyday life,” said Luis Bonilla, who is a professor.

“The show is fantastic, I love everything about Chinese culture. The history portrayed through this Shen Yun dance performance is excellent. I really enjoyed it,” said Mr. García.

“After the show you leave with a feeling of joy, well-being, and harmony,” said Lisa Marrero, a psychologist.

Shen Yun Performing Arts will next visit Mobile, Alabama, and Columbus, Georgia.
