Shen Yun ‘Escapes the Materialism,’ Says Manager

March 27, 2024

On Shen Yun’s last day in Salt Lake City, Utah, attendees said they were impressed by the performers’ talent and showing the spiritual side of the culture.

“Such beautiful colors. I’ve never seen any … I’ve never seen a performance that was so precise before. So synchronized, I loved it. And the music, spectacular,” said Brian Carrington, former president at Property Reserve Inc.

“Extremely impressed,” said Chris Miller, general manager of KONE Corporation. “It’s really neat to see people that are so naturally talented but then have worked hard to hone those talents that they have to … basically have the display that they had today for the play. It’s amazing. The colors, the cinematography with the special effects, the screen behind, and really the storyline. And the best part too is learning about Chinese culture.”

“I’m impressed, very impressed. It was really almost magical,” said Jeffrey Burrows, owner of Lehi Tours. “I almost felt like I was transported to a different time and place.”

“It escapes the materialism of most performances. … It was absolutely beautiful,” said Troy McClain, APEX Accelerator regional manager at the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of a divinely-inspired culture. In the past, artists believed that to create art that uplifts, they must first cultivate goodness.

“I would like to see, of course, more of this and a return to the tradition and the beauty of the past. I think that we’ve lost so much just with the modern and postmodern deconstructionism of our day,” said Mr. Burrows.

“We’ve become so separated from our spirituality, from our native divinity. And this is a good introduction,” said Mr. McClain.

“I really feel that we are here for a purpose. And I think that show tried to articulate that to the audience,” said Christopher Torsak, an airline captain. “We’re here for a greater purpose, and that purpose is elevating ourselves, and as we do that, elevating humanity.”

Shen Yun performs in Denver, Colorado, next from March 29 to April 3.
