Sold-Out Shen Yun ‘Outstanding,’ Says Company Chairman

Executive Deputy Chairman Alan Pascoe MBE, saw Shen Yun at the New Victoria Theatre in Woking, United Kingdom, in the second performance of the New York-based company’s European tour on Jan. 9.

Mr. Pascoe has over 30 years of experience in sports, he won medals at the Olympic Games and the European Championships. In 1975, he was awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, MBE by the Queen for his services in sports.

“I love it, I love the discipline, I love the athleticism, I love the control and the whole presentation with the backdrop,” said Pascoe. “And all the various screen drops behind which a part of the show as well. It just outstanding.”

“I have been involved in the gymnastics world, and I know how difficult it is, to have the position and have everybody move in the same way at exactly the same time. And that was the immediate impact, was that they were just so controlled, so disciplined, so together. [It] just marvelous.”

“I’ve been absolutely blown away by it, it’s outstanding,” said Ian Jones, a professor of physical metallurgy. “The music is being very very professional, to see actually a live orchestra at the same time as the dance on stage the coordination is brilliant, absolutely brilliant.”

According to its website, Shen Yun tours the globe with a mission to revive China’s semi-divine culture which was nearly lost after 60 years of communist rule.

“The piece on the show where they show the persecution especially the meditation and the belief,” said Jones. “I want to know more. And what I’ve seen today has only inspired me to actually inquire more about it and try and find out more, it’s been very very moving.”
