Universal Orlando theme park resort opened to the public on Friday for the first time since March amidst the pandemic.
The resort is the first among the major theme parks in the city to reopen, and prior to its official reopening on Friday, annual pass holders were given early access on Wednesday and Thursday.
Although the park has officially opened, there are a few things that have changed in the way it works, with various guidelines for both new and returning park-goers, including social distancing, health screenings, and sanitizing.
In order to be admitted into the park, both guests and employees are required to wear face coverings. In addition, every guest will be screened and their temperature checked, and anyone who has a temperature higher than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit will not be permitted to enter.
Guests are required to keep a distance of 6 feet from each other and, if travelling within a group, to keep 6 feet away from other groups.
All attractions, restaurants, and shops within the resort are limiting the number of people allowed at any given time.
All around the park will be signs that remind people to comply with social distancing and hygiene orders, and staff members will give out hand sanitizer to guests before each ride.
Employees have increased the amount of cleaning and disinfecting procedures and will be frequently cleaning areas with the most amount of traffic, or high-touch areas.
Universal Orlando is also encouraging guests to download the park’s official app in order to make reservations for attractions, and order food.
USA Today reported that several other parks in Florida are also due for reopening next week, including SeaWorld Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, and Adventure Island.
