Whoopi Goldberg broke out in a fit of laughter at Bill de Blasio’s recent announcement that he is running for president before she took a swipe at his managing of New York City on The View.

Goldberg enumerated the mayor’s shortcomings to the audience before commenting, “Is this a good career move for him? No! What are you doing? Not a good career move man!”

She said that in her view, de Blasio should finish his job as New York City mayor and fix the local issues before turning his focus elsewhere.

“Here’s what you didn’t mention,” Goldberg said of de Blasio’s announcement. “Homelessness is near record highs; congestive pricing will take the minimum wage money that we just gave to people, it will take it away from them because they have to pay the congestive pricing; public housing is falling apart; you can’t seem to fire anybody; the subways are underserved; the buses are slow. What the hell are you going to do?

“Finish doing what you’re doing here. Finish being the mayor. Finish this out.”

In an attempt to be fair to the mayor, hosts Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin read a list of positives things that they thought de Blasio had achieved in his term as mayor. But Goldberg didn’t seem to agree with them.

“Murder rate is lowest in decades,” Behar said, to which Goldberg interjected, “Not because of him.”

Meghan McCain also gave her opinion of de Blasio: “This morning on GMA, people were screaming ‘liar’ so loud outside that George Stephanopoulos had to say there’s protesters out here. 76 percent of New Yorkers said he shouldn’t run for President. There’s a violent crime rise. There’s a measles outbreak. Increase in homelessness. He’s a climate change hypocrite. He drives to and from Gracie mansion to Brooklyn in an 11-mile caravan yet he’s advocating for the Green New Deal. On top of everything else, he killed the groundhog. I feel like that’s important to America. We have the video. He did. He dropped this groundhog!”

Goldberg Takes on de Blasio in Earlier Episode

Goldberg has criticized de Blasio before. In a memorable episode of The View in January when de Blasio was in studio, Goldberg again criticized de Blasio for what he has done as mayor on The View as America watched.

Goldberg criticized de Blasio for how he had expanded bike lanes at the cost of car lanes, therefore making New York City’s already congested traffic situation worse. She also brought up the fact that de Blasio’s programs to encourage bike use had not encouraged the use of bike helmets. Then she mentioned the lack of regulation on the size of the enormous trucks that almost can’t fit down New York City streets.

As de Blasio attempted to justify his administration’s decisions and tout the effectiveness of his programs, Goldberg continued to press him.

“But you screwed the city up,” Goldberg said.

She then addressed him directly, not letting him evade the points she was trying to make about how it is getting more and more difficult to navigate New York City by car.

“You go through the city with a police escort. I come in every day. I come in every day. I find that because you can’t make a turn anywhere, you can’t go straight anywhere, when there’s a storm people can’t move anywhere because you got all these medians in the way.”

She then started to question the motives of the restructuring of New York City streets, suggesting that it coincides with the government giving New Yorkers new “congestion pricing” charges. She also takes aim at Governor Andrew Cuomo.

“I’m just saying you might want to take a look at some of this. Because now you have Cuomo coming in taking about congestion pricing, and I kind of feel like it’s a setup,” Goldberg told de Blasio.

The hosts end the segment by asking de Blasio if he is running for president in 2020.

“I am mayor of New York City. That’s where I’m focused,” de Blasio tells The View.

Apparently, he has changed his mind.
